Stop making my Father’s house a marketplace. We are Temples of the indwelling Holy Spirit. As Jesus cleaned the Temple of the animals and money changers, we should clean our Temples of our habits, our vices, our sins, all what is unrighteous and offensive to the Lord God. Jesus got angry and cleaned the house. In some sense, he is talking about our body, temple of the Holy Spirit. Our body is sacred because of the Holy Spirit. But, nowadays, we see how our body is damage by violence, drug, alcohol, sin, war, prejudice, bad tough, angry, jalousie, prize, too much food, smoke, Think about yourself : Think about how you are damaging the temple of the Holy Spirit that is your body, or your neighbor. ……….. If Jesus comes to day, He will say the same thing : you have transformed the house of my Father in marketplace. So, today, it is an invitation to clean our hearts. So, Lent is time to clean our hearts.
Lent is time to give back to our hearts his original function : temple of Holy Spirit, house of prayer. Let us welcome Jesus into our hearts and lives during Lent by repentance and the renewal of our lives. We will drive out the wild animals that do not belong to the holy temple of our body by making a whip of cords out of our fasting, penance and almsgiving during Lent, and by going to Confession to receive God’s loving forgiveness in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
