Dear Parishioners and Friends, you may have noticed the decorations around your neighborhood have begun to appear.  We saw some decorations going up already during our vacation, before Thanksgiving!  For many people Christmas is a time for adorning the house and decorating the carefully selected tree with the symbols that are associated with Advent.  Those traditions are ok, as long as we maintain our focus on the One who is the reason for the season.
The question is, how do you prepare you heart for the birthday celebration of Jesus and his second coming?  The liturgical color violet reminds us that Advent is a penitential season.  One of our Advent prayers urges us to remove those things that hinder us from receiving Christ with joy.  What better way to respond to this Advent prayer than to make a good confession.  Advent is a time to go to confession… please find time in your busy schedules to make the most of this opportunity.  I wish you all have a Blessed Advent preparation for Christmas.
