Hurricane Harvey Donations to be Made

We have all been avidly watching the devastation of the very serious situation in Texas following Hurricane Harvey and the suffering of all the people that will be ongoing for a very long time after the floods stop. As Catholics, we have always reached out our hand to those in need all over the world and at this time it is on our own doorstep in America that we need to reach out both our hands as well as our hearts and prayers.

All Catholic Churches in America, which are noted for their generosity, will be working together to support the appeal to aid those suffering great personal and financial loss by arranging in each and every parish a collection which will be taken at all Masses the weekend of September 9th & 10th, 2017.

For our parish, this collection will be facilitated via the normal weekly parish collection. It has been agreed that 10% of the weekly collection taken on September 9th & 10th will be given to the appeal. Fr. Julio and Fr. Augusty, on behalf of Fr. Carl and the Diocese of Owensboro and in conjunction with the Catholic Church of the United States of America, ask that we all fully commit to this appeal and give as generously as each of us are able to.

The Diocesan Office has informed us that all money collected will be distributed to local churches through Catholic Charities USA and USCCB. Let us all continue to keep all those people affected by this disaster in our prayers and ask that God will protect them and guide and inspire us all to offer our support in any way that we can. May they all remember and find comfort from Isaiah 49:15,

“I will never forget you.  See, upon the palms of my hands I have engraved you.”
